GINANGGANG IS DABAWENYO'S FAVORITE SNACK

The "Ginanggang" or grilled skewered banana is a favorite snack of Filipinos especially the Dabawenyos. A kind of food where an unripened banana is grilled and coated with margarine and sugar. A healthy food to eat instead of those processed snacks bought in sari-sari  stores. Often times, these are just displayed and available as a street food. The price cost will range averagely from Php 5.00 to Php 7.00. A nutritious and a very affordable delicacy that will surely satisfy your cravings.
It was known that this way of serving banana originated in Mindanao. But not knowing the specific place or city where it began. Actually, there is what we called a "Ginanggang Festival" held every May 2, in honor to San Isidro, at Barangay Poblacion, Tubod, Lanao Del Norte (Somewhere in the Northern Mindanao). Though, there was no claim that it really originated there.

Naturally, the banana is packed with healthy benefits. Study suggests that unripened banana is much better than the ripe one due to its sugar level content. The banana plays a big role in dietary plan for those people who wanted to be fit. This is also an energizer for it is a good source of potassium. Banana is not just about contributing to the physical attribute of a person but also to the brain. As it has a lot of Vitamin B contents.

Furthermore, Filipinos nowadays are very conscious to their health and to their figure. This is mostly because we are influenced by foreign celebrities' dietary habit and physique.

So what can I advice? Eat Ginanggang...
