Magsaysay Park in Davao City as we could remember, is the central park of recreational venue for Dabawenyos to dwell on. The park served its purpose to provide the people a place to nestle throughout the day.
Unfortunately, as time passed by, the park was somewhat far from the reminisced "tambayan" of the barkada and the playground of children as it was used to be.
Here we could see, that the slide and swing are sill there but it looks like being deserted by time. The children as we expected to be here are few. Instead, the adults crowd the park on a distinct motive,
The park is now mostly occupied by Dabawenyos complying their personal government requirements as this place has been a revenue of these purpose.
(Got nothing against this, but well...)
After all, the spots of interest are still here:
The skating and bicycle rink is still available for use and for you to enjoy. You could rent a variety of the available bikes and skates for less than P100.00 per hour
The Nuestra Senora Del Pilar is a chapel (I think) with benches and a fixed table in front. This could also be found still in the park.
It also still have the Durian Monument which represents the city's popular fruit; the Durian (as the name suggested). Davao City has been known in the Philippine as the "Durian Capital".
At the side most part, we could see this enclosed area with a stage and benches fronting it. Not sure about what is this for, but as observed for these past years; this has been a playground for skateboarders.
Lastly, the overlooking view to Samal Island. With the prepared benches fronting this view, is a perfect place to have a sweet discussion with someone while gazing the opposite land (not minding the smell of its breeze tho).
As we go outside, you will see the famous tourists stop-over and market for Durian to buy and for "pasalubong". It also have pomelos displayed which is a popular "pasalubong" to visitors as well.
Truly, it is still in your preference to like or dislike the now park. It really depends on every person. This observation was conducted during the afternoon and have not considered during night time where as we passed along; do have decent amount of "bagets" entering and exiting the park.
