The Aboitiz Group has committed for the establishment of Pawikan Center in Davao City in their Cleanergy Park for the pursuit on rescuing these turtles in the Davao Gulf. They have collaborated with the city governemnt of Davao as well as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on this move.
This Pawikan Center will be made because of the study that only a few percentage of the hatchlings being released could survive. The center would then be specific to rescue and hatchery facility for these turtles.
The pawikan eggs are originally found at the shoreline of a public beach in a nearby barangay, 76-A, before it will be transferred to the Cleanergy park with the permission and cooperation of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
